Hello,
Please can anyone tell me if there are any Markets in Los Altos that sell fresh Vegetables and Fruit.
many thanks
Hi. I've not found any in Los Altos but there are a couple of markets. One on Fridays in Torrevieja and another on Saturdays at Playa Flamenca. Lots of stalls and so cheap compared to prices in the UK!

Hi Nigella
Playa Flamenca is the closest to you, but I seem to remember that you don't have a car, and the local minibus doesn't run at weekends!
However, there is a market in Cabo Roig on Thursdays. If you catch the bus to La Zenia Boulevard and change to the other minibus (using the same ticket), the 2nd minibus terminates at the entrance to the market.
Cheers
Steve

I've not got a car either but for the Friday market I go on the bus to Torrevieja (D/F line) and then get the H bus to the market. Only works out 6 euros return.
I catch a taxi to Playa Flamenca as not yet managed to find a bus that goes there or to La Zenia Boulevard from Los Altos. Only about 7 euros anyway. You can walk to La Zenia Boulevard from the market after so you could combine the trip.

How do you know the market is fresh you don’t know how long it’s been sat in there storage maybe for weeks or months.
Supermarket faster turnover better storage more control.

Hi
I tend to agree with rds1234. But it may depend where you go.
We went to a market in Fortuna, it all looked a lot fresher than Playa Flamenca etc.!
We bought stuff in PF market once, it rotted very quickly.
Cheers

I agree, have been to San Miguel, Cabo Riog and Playa Flamenca markets, none of the fruit lasted more than about a day, two tops. The strawberries rot before your eyes and are devoid of any taste.

You should be able to tell the condition of the produce by looking at it, over ripe or past it f and v look very unhappy. The produce from permanent indoor markets in larger towns is usually much better quality.
