Just go along to Jessie's bar in Los Balcones, everyone is friendly and full of advice about everything you need.

Is Jessie's the little bar on the same side of the road as Lago jardin?

Yes. Jessie's bar is directly opposite Mercadona. Lots of people between 4pm and 7pm most nights. x
