Wise is a good option,I initiated a bank account with N26 as I am an Irish citizen living in the Republic with a British pension paid through the Halifax as I previously lived in Northern Ireland, and still have a property there ,with a British military pension where the tax is paid to Britain before I get my pension, are you keeping up?
Just rented an apartment in Spain for a long stay, initially transferred €600 through bank bancia, who charged me €10 for the privilige, so,tried something different, transferred ,direct from Halifax to N26 ( main account is in Germany) a sum of money,no charges incurred from either bank, then transferred from N26 in € to bank bancia ,incurred no charges, so it looks like UK via( £)Halifax to N26 no charges ,and {€} via N26 to bancia no charges ,I can then set up standing direct debit etc with no loss and very little hassle.
I know N26 use Wise for transfer so outside of EU transfers are good rates ,within the € zone transfers are free.
Happy days?
