Thanks for previous advice about buy a home. Some good tips and information.

We are receiving the keys next Monday to our new home in Mil Palmeras, which we are so excited about. We are looking for advise on where to buy new furniture and general things in and around Mil Palmeras.

The only thing I can compare it to, is back in the UK. Are there shops such as?

B&Q, Home bargains, Sofology, Dunelm’s, Screwfix/Toolstation ………..

Blind, shutters, mosquito suppliers and fitters

On a separate issue any advise about internet providers, I only really need it for CCTV. So the lowest monthly subscription is need. Unless you know of a better way to use the CCTV ?

If you got any other tips and advice, it will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance Rog & Kell

The only advise I can offer is to slow down and take your time. It’s easy to race out and buy every you see that you feel your home needs. Remember , you should really like everything you buy from beakers to wine glasses as you won’t want to dump them later on. Bring a few beakers from M&S with you and a couple of bath sheets For the pool and beach, we use DOCK & BAY beach towels. Excellent and fold into a small  bag instead of a big, bulky normal beach towel. Go online and order. Class.

Everyday bits and pieces can be bought locally in the Chinese bazaars.

Loungers.  Buy 2 fold up beach chairs until you’ve researched what you’d really love. You can buy plastic loungers or magnificent rattan ones. Take your time. Think where you’ll store them in the winter.

Buy good beds. Nobody enjoys sleeping in a cheap bed. Same goes for living room furniture. Measure your space and don’t buy the wrong sizes. L shaped seems a good idea, make sure you can get out of it! Some are low to the ground.

Siesta group sell wonderful rattan furniture. For outside, a table and chairs are a better and more practical buy as you can eat or relax in the sun on the chairs. ( top quality snd half the price of similar in the U.K.)

Winter is cold in Spain. Electric blanket is a must ( for us). Good pillows… vital. Don’t be tempted to buy cheap. Zara Home stock top quality. Also stock a basic range which is very good. Their household hoods are class. Possibly more expensive than the local Chinese shop but you’ll know what I mean when you visit the shop.

IKEA is pretty good too. Don’t buy cheap pots and pans! Honestly , I’ve dumped several frying pans. Eventually bought a quality one and it’s still perfect. Great for mirrors, pictures, rugs and bedroom furniture.

Please take heed. Slow down and only buy what you both really love. if you have space on your solarium fir a clothesline, buy a BRABANTIA retractable 5 line type. These lines are the best. Do not buy another make. Check the length. Great thing is that once the washing is off the line, you retract and the sun can’t ruin the cord.

Bath mat.  Buy a good size.  Bring over from M & S. soft and warm in the winter!

Good luck shopping. Don’t be scared to visit Corte Ingles. Get ideas snd take a note if prices. I think they offer finance! Great when buying beds and settees   Go online and look at their fabulous furniture.

You will have a dream home if you take your time. I didn’t and ended it changing so much later on.

Thank you Rose. Sound advise and one I will take note of. We almost rushed out and ordered lost of stuff to be delivered the day we arrived, but thankfully charged our minds
