We have just boarded a flight to Birmingham and there wasn’t anyone to stamp our passport on exit. The guys checking said there wasn’t anyone to stamp and we must board. Our flight departed at 0630 am. Is this the norm now of random stamps. Now it looks like Iv not left and I’m coming back in February. Thanks

From memory there was a couple of informative tips posted on this topic by other members.

One was to retain your boarding card.

Another was to talk to Spanish police inside the airport on your next arrival to explain your predicament.

I am sure other members might be able to give you more information than me.

Regards

I'm sure there are a lot more people who are in your position. My daughter and her partner visited at the end of September for a week and if their passports weren't stamped on exit, the next time they visit at some time after the end of December they could be considered overstayers having only been here 7 days.

Is this happening in other Schengen countries, or just Spain?

I have left an enquiry with the UK Passport Office and expect an answer within 72 hours.

Seems a bit hit and miss at the moment. I flew out from spain to Birmingham yesterday and as i was an over stayer by 8 days (No fault of my own) was worried sick. Passport control never batted an eyelid. A few people have said to keep your boarding pass as proof of exit if passport not stamped.
