I pay, fam of 4, (3 bd-rm, garage, 60,- house, +/-60,- electricity. No heating needed.

Gas: a bottle 12,5 kgs (16,-) lasts +/- 3 months for cooking and hot water (bath)

Prices for water vary significantly depending on location. As a rule don't use tap water for human needs.

My house is slightly bigger and I have no pool.

It's a lock and leave, I avoid going in the winter as is too cold.

I budget-

35e per mth for water

30e per mth for elec

This averages out as it's lower when I'm not there and vice versa.

Internet is pay as you go. SUMA and non resi tax is variable so difficult to compare this.

Don't forget hidden costs. Such as

Bank charges 140e per year

House insurance budget 150e per year

"As a rule don't use tap water for human needs"

What complere and utter nonsense, and what is "human needs" supposed to mean anyway?

Agreed. I only drink tap water. I never drink bottled water.

There is nothing wrong with the water. We are not in a developing African country.

Thank you all for your info and for pointing out the suba tax error etc.

I've just managed to download 2016-2018 bank statements.

Electricity via Iberdrola for lights + white goods + fans.

It may happen that a  freezer is left on for a couple of weeks between visits, that's it!

This bill  averaged 56 per month with a low of 40  and a high of 72 a month.

Gas, via Cepsa Commercial, for HW , showers, and very intermittent CH

This bill averaged just 15 a month

Water, via Hidraqua, not much watering going on. Mainly showers and washing machine

This bill averaged just 12 a month

Thanks everyone........ it doesn't look like there are any utility faults as such, but the electricity pricing is such a rip off !!

Note:-  I recently had a utility issue,.... a water leak, under a hedge, past the meter, but 1 meter down.  Several years of nearly a cubic meter a day wasted is expensive. This was 4x  normal usage. It can only be backdated 12 months for a partial refund.

Hello James, when you say the water leak was a metre away from your meter, was it a metre into your boundary so on your plot or a metre away from your boundary so not on your plot? We had a few months of very high water bills and it turned out there were two leaks - on our plot. I’m wondering if we can claim anything for this or not.
Thanks.
