Hola to fellow Oliva ex-pats - I recently moved to Playa de Oliva from Estartit [Girona Province] where i had obtained NIE, Residencia,Padron and healthcare with CatSalut - pre Brexit retiree.

Due to my lack of language skills I'm looking for someone who is bilingual and has the time and inclination to assist me at the Oliva Town Hall - I'm not looking for a freebie and happy to discuss an hourly rate for your time.

Obtaining healthcare shouldn't be a problem once I have obtained the Padron paperwork.

I'd love to hear from anyone who wishes to meet up for walks/ cycle rides around the area plus a natter over a beverage - conversation needed to stimulate my mind.

As a born and bred Yorkshire man I can be blunt and to the point but age has softened me slightly - I believe that a sense of humour is essential in 2022.

Hello Eric

I would look for a local gestor in your area (cheaper than a solicitor) to help with the padron because ,you will also need help to update your  Residencia/TIE with  your correct address  etc.  This will mean visits to the Extranjeros Office in  Alicante for that procedure.

Hopefully someone on here can recommend a local  gestor they have used for these documents.

Cheers

Hola Eric,

I speak fluent Spanish and can interpret for you if you like. I live in Pego and have a car.

If you're interested we can meet up either in Oliva or Pego.

I am an autonomo and deal with my gestor and hacienda on a regular basis. I speak French as well as Spanish. We're actually gardeners (I trained with the RHS in Cornwall), but I do all the paperwork and prepare the tax returns every three months.

Kind regards;

France

On the social side of things, check out Oliva U3A if you're not aware of it.

Good luck!

Hola, thank you for your prompt message - I obviously need someone to hold my hand [metaphorically] when making the Padron application - do you know the process operated in Oliva ?Can one just turn up and apply or do I need a completed  application form plus personal paperwork ready I visit the Town Hall ?

I think a meeting for coffe [other beverages are available] would be a start.

In a previous life I was involved with the Chelsea Flower Show and Hampton Court - appreciate the work of the RHS.

Regards,

Eric.

Hola Eric,

You'll need three documents:

Your NIE or TIE certificate/card.

Your passport.

Any other document with your name and address on it.

You literally turn up and say, quiero empadronarme por favor? I want to register on the padron please.

They'll show you what to do.

I did it in Pego and it literally took seconds. I was ushered into an office and they photocopied the documents then filled in a form and asked me to take it to the reception area. I handed it in to the man there, and was told to come back in X days. Then I came back and was given my padron certificate. Best to go first thing rather than mid--morning when everyone's almorzando (elevensies). And morning here is until 2pm btw. Also, don't be afraid to double-check and to reiterate and to be a pain. I used to leave places with a niggling doubt. Now I turn around and go back in and clarify stuff.

Once you have your padron you go to the medical centre to register there too, if you have a SIP card. You can ask for a temporary SIP card for the vaccinations.

Alguien habla ingles? Does anyone speak English?

Es posible hablar en ingles? Is it possible to speak in English?

No hablo Espagnol, disculpa. I don't speak Spanish, sorry.

No entiendo. I don't understand.

Por favor repite lento. Please repeat slowly.

Estupendo! That's great!

Me lo apuntas por favor? Write it down please?

Moltes gracies! Thanks a lot (in Valenciano).

Staff reallly really do appreciate it when non-Spanish make an effort. I've overheard it many times, and been told myself many times.

We can meet for a clara limon or a coffee if you like. I don't know Oliva however.

I trained with the RHS in Cornwall. I also worked for Barry Champion at Trellisick Gardens on the Carrick Roads.

Kind regards,

France

If if's a hideous experience I'll come along next time. But someone will speak a smidgen of English. Good luck for Thursday.

I forgot to say, take your old padron certificate with you and Oliva Town Hall will cancel the padron in Catalonia. You don't have to do it.
