Can anyone recommend a private health insurance provider in Spain that is reasonably priced.  I’m an EU passport holder and live / retired in Spain for 7 months now and intend to remain

I can highly recommend ASSSA in terms of cost. Their quoted fee also stays the same for the term of the cover, unlike others.

Our old policy was with DKV which increased every year. I also wouldn't recommend DKV for their service or customer care either, hence why we changed to ASSSA.

I also recommend ASSSA, but their guarantee to me when I took out the policy in 2018 was that the premium would not increase by more than the rate of inflation every year, regardless of my age. Some companies increase prices substantially as your age reaches milestones like 60, 70, 80, etc.

This is how it has worked out. In two or three years I had no increase, and the others were very modest. I've just been informed that the 2023 premium is being increased by 4%, which is fair when inflation has been running at 8 - 11%. I am also in the Spanish health system, so this policy is additional cover, a bit of a luxury. If the price goes up too much, I might decide it's a luxury too far.

Hi Noelle,

I also recommend ASSSA.  My husband and I have had cover with ASSSA for 7 years and have also received notification of a small price increase at our January renewal, but this is the first increase since we took out the policies in 2016.

Kind regards,

Kim
