Hello
We are waiting for an apartment being completed in Oliva and would appreciate any advise with setting up electricity provider, broadband and insurance.
Our bank have suggested they can provide house insurance although I'm not sure this is our best option.
We will not be using the apartment as our permanent residence although we will be out for a few weeks at a time

You don't say but I'm assuming you're using a lawyer to assist with the purchase?
If so, they should normally handle all this type of thing for you.
Well, the solicitor will set up the electricity (and water) supplier.
For house insurance the bank is usually far more expensive. You could try Linea Directa in English who have good deals at the beginning and then look around at others later on.
Broadband you will need to find a switch on / switch off company (one that you can pay for when you are there) such as Avitel or Telitec etc.

Hi Debbie,
If you're paying your completion funds for the property purchase via your bank, you should be able to negotiate a deal on the cost of the banker's draft or transfer fee if you take the bank's insurance. That's the only basis on which I would recommend bank insurance, as it's usually the most expensive option.
I have all my insurances with Liberty Seguros, via Jennifer Cunningham Insurance Agent, and have been very pleased with how responsive they have been when I've had to make claims:

We are in La sella near Denia & normally I think the solicitor does this , they did for us , if not your spainish bank will prob do it for u , once you get 1 or I can recommend a gestor in Javea if u need one he’s brilliant - David

With regards to insurance they also do that from the office in Javea /that’s where we get all our insurances from (house insurance & car insurance
