What are the pros and cons living in the village of Tormas

If you mean Tormos I'm no expert but I live not that far away in Beniarbeig.
Based on what I "think" rather than what I know for fact......
Pros
Quiet/Spanish/not far from Orba for main supplies/cool in winter/property prices reflect inland location/close to mountain scenery but accessible to coast in 20 minutes
Cons
Quiet/own transport essential/no coastal summer breezes/likely need some Spanish to relate to locals but that could be a "pro" as well I suppose.
It all depends what sort of life you're looking for, Tormos is a small inland Spanish village, rural and peaceful.
I believe there are Brits there but not sure how many.
Hope this helps a little, Steve
Cheers Steve, been told more of a community sprit in village as compared to urbanisation

Hi Alan,
to get the best out of life there I would imagine learning to speak Spanish would be 100% essential - the locals will not really interact with you unless you speak it and that might leave you a little "isolated" and although living in a nice place, not really able to integrate into it. Orba has a very big ex pat community (which you might see as a pro OR a con) and you can certainly get along without much Spanish in Orba. In Tormos though I think you'd regret it if you can't learn the language.
Bear in mind Alan these are just thoughts, maybe someone in Tormos will come on and correct me! Is there a reason you are thinking Tormos - eg have you seen a property there that you love, or is there some other reason you're thinking of it?
You're right about community - where I live - right in the village I feel that, on an urbanisation you don't, and it can often be quiet in winter on an Urb. I can walk to a cash point/baker/butcher/health centre/town hall/9 bars/post office/mini market........all within a minute

Hi Steve, Thanks for info, planning to retire to Orba area saw a really nice property in Tormos but there were a couple of wrecked cars lying around from which looks like a local mechanic using a small unit which put my wife off although didnt bother me.we would both learn the language in village or not. But at moment because of Brexit not sure if we can access the Spanish health service no one knows for sure what’s happening

If it helps, here is my position - I retired early, moved here permanently 2016, so had to access private health care. It's a little expensive, indeed prohibitive for many. As a single guy I'm paying 800e annually and that's before the additional charges for excesses on your policy which you opt to take to keep the base price down! However in October I reach retirement age and will expect to access free healthcare via the Spanish state scheme. There is a rumour that the new ruling party are going to reinstate free access to healthcare regardless of age, but there is nothing yet to prove it's happening.
If you're set on a move and can afford to do so I'd be sure to move before the Brexit deadline as there MAY be additional residential advantages for expats who move before rather than after.
As regards location, have you considered Beniarbeig? It's a nice quiet village/town, unspoiled in every way, small enough to have a village feel but large enough to have a bit of an infrastructure to it. It's also generally pretty flat, so nice to walk around as opposed to say Benidoleig up the road towards Orba, which is pitched on a hill. Prices here are slowly creeping up, as they are for desirable properties everywhere here, but depending on your budget, you might like it. It also has a bus service to Denia, 1.35e !
Steve
Hi Steve only drove through Beniarbeig did notice was not as quiet as other villages but as you say a little larger. I feel the same move before dead line but what dead line 2019 or December 2020. Hopefully we will know soon that is really the reason we are holding back
