Hi,
I've delayed responding in order to check into the current situation with obtaining a Tourist Licence.
As I predicted the system to gain a License cannot cope with the number of applications. What was due to take 6 weeks has now completely broken down! My information is that applications made in June 2018 were being processed just before Christmas.
The most recent application we put in at the end of September 2018 has been given an estimated date of July 2019!! So that will be a process of 10 months!
To even start your rental advert you need the Licence number and without it you will therefore get no enquiries or bookings from tourists.
Communication to the organisation is protracted and inefficient. There is also still a lot of confusion and misinformation.
We cannot find any way of shortening the process or fast tracking it or anyone to complain to. To add to the problem we are told that there is now a requirement to obtain another form from your town hall. This is called "Informe Compatibililad Urbanistica" which translates as - Informative Urban Planning or Urban Compatibility Report. We have yet to find out what this is and why it is now needed? I am talking to the town hall next week and will let others know what I find out. However I have a feeling that they may know nothing about it - as is common with lots of things to do with the Licence process.
Unfortunately if the situation does not improve it could impact financially on the Regional economy for a second year. Tourists spend money and local businesses rely ot it during the summer months. Villa owners gain rental income and spend it on providing services to their clients as well as paying the property running costs.
Another ill throughout bureaucracy.
