We usually travel to Spain via the Santander ferry and then drive down to Torrevieja, but the driving is getting to be a problem. I believe there is a bus from Santander to Torrevieja - does anyone have any information or experience of this please.

There is no direct bus service from Torrevieja, you would have to go to Alicante first and chnge there. Then be prepared to stay 17 hours in a rather incomfortable bus with poor legroom for some 80,-. Instead, I'd recommend a train. Takes 5 hours less, costs 57,- is a lot more comfortable (change train in Madrid). Buy ticket(s) online and avoid queuing. If interested let me know and I give all relevant details.

Forgive me Marie if I seem rude or stupid, but whole point of travelling by ferry is to be able to use your own car in Spain, so if you are considering not driving down to your home, is there any point in doing the ferry, when flights would be a lot cheaper and easier. Perhaps I,ve missed something?

We prefer not to fly, and we have a small dog, so the ferry works best for us. Thanks for your input though.
