Firstly, I'm sorry for your loss..

I've found the people in cabo roig very friendly.

Although not big drinkers, some of the bars on the strip doing happy hour ( which is more like 4hrs plus) are great meeting points..

Murphys opposite la zenia boulevard on a Saturday afternoon is brilliant. Live music and singing. Foods good too.

Lots to do.. enjoy your move.

Hiya Mozza, firstly  can I also add my condolences on the loss of your wife and hope your proposed new start here in Spain proves to be an enjoyable one.

You dont say exactly where on the Costa you intend to live so some general advice on meeting people and making friends would be, as Bles states above, find the local bars in your area and try them to see if the overall atmosphere suits your tastes.

In addition ,if you have any particular hobbies then try to find out by word of mouth, or by looking in the free local papers if anyone or any groups local to you are participating in your particular hobby or pastime and apply to join them.

If your new home happens to be one on an urbanization you  could find out the details of its President and ask advice off him or her as to social events held locally.

If you intend to have lots of free time on your hands and are of the mind to help charitable causes , there are plenty of Charity organizations and shops which may be willing to accept your offer of help and that would obviously entail meeting lots of people, staff and public ,face to face and could possibly lead to friendships being formed.

I am sure others can add to this advice and do wish you the very best of luck in the future.

LeckyLes.
