Can anyone update me on the latest situation with tourist licences in the Orihuela Costa area.

I have just accepted an offer on my rental property in El Campello and am thinking of buying another, but around the Orihuela Costa area. Before I decide, I need to know the latest situation with being able to get a tourist licence in the area. I seem to remember that some areas are no longer issuing licences.

Any advice greatly appreciated. I seem to have found an honest agent who tells me that you cannot get a licence in San Miguel del Salinas.

Thanks in advance

Stuart

Hopefully davebev1 will jump in on this but I'm sure I can remember them saying that Torrevieja were quick, Orihuela Costa slow and Rojales refusing to issue any at all.

Orihuela Costa Town Hall will issue the Compatibility Certificate needed for the License application as long as the community have not registered as not allowing any new ones.  However, they are incredibly slow, wait was well over a year before covid so probably closer to two years now.  Last I heard, San Miguel Town Hall do issue them but only if the application is accompanied by a letter of agreement from the community as agreed at their AGM.

Best option is to sound round and see if you can find a property that already has a License as they belong to the property so can be transferred into the new owners name.
