Hi everyone my wife and I are coming over to live in the costa Blanca region next April , we just need any advice on work ethics or any leads to finding work I fit kitchens and bathrooms have done for the last 35 years so plenty of experience . My wife is a hairdresser and the same 35 years experience , any leads would be much appreciated many thanks Paul and Debbie .

Work situation is pretty grim. A lot of people are going home. Chance of getting a normal job are close to zero. You would both have to  go self employed/Autonomo which carries costs and  you would both need private healthcare insurance.

Highly unlikely you both could earn enough to cover your living costs. Therefore you would need to bring a  ton of cash to act as a buffer while you look for work or if any work you do find is sporadic.

Living in Spain and working to cover your costs is  unrealistic in the current climate. Unemployment is very high and the market is saturated with Brits all looking for work.

Would agree with all the above. The only small hope may be that a hairdresser may have a chair for rent; but this would mean you would have to be officially registered as autonomo; I know that my own local hairdresser could do with someone else in the studio, but they would need to be ‘offical’ or she will be fined heavily; she says that it’s difficult to find people as the social security contributions etc are very high and staff feel its not worth it.
