The obvious response is to say "just stay there while I call the Guardia to come and help you out". NEVER get in a car with a stranger in a situation like that.

Ok call us a couple of plonkers!

Hi, we got caught out with him in San Luis a couple of weeks ago. Reported him to the Guardia. Not that we'll ever see him again!

Thanks Jayne...could have been worse I guess. Only down 24 euros..a cheap fleece...a pair of socks and he stole our Sunday morning getting us out in torrential flooding in Torrevieja. Normally wouldn't put a dog out in that weather! Oh well..thanks for your response.🙂

Thanks...feel real stupid now!

You mustn't feel stupid. It's nice to know that some people do have some humanity still.

It's hard to think the worst of people when they appear to be in need of help.

Glad you're ok though.

Hello Tigerdon,

Yes, it could have been worse, but please don't let your kindness be battered  by what happened, you have a clear consience .        Some people are in  genuine need  but separating them from the con men  is  very hard , just  don't compromise your security - make yourselves a priority in any  situation.

Cheers

No, I'm not calling you that. You acted out of kindness, which is commendable. I'm just saying we all need to be a bit streetwise in these difficult times. Don't take strangers at face value.
