Hi forum friends. My smoke alarm started bleebing the other night, changed the battery....but it Is still bleebing....every 20 seconds. Usually a new battery solves the problem. Does anyone know if it’s lukel to be a fault with the actual smoke detector?

We have 2...bought as a twin-pack......the other one is fine. If I need to buy a new one I will, just wondering if this is a fault that can be fixed....or not. TIA

Edit: does anyone know if it’s likely*

Try this Before you throw away, it will only take 5 minutes, remove the unit from the ceiling and remove it’s battery, dust causes smoke alarms to beep, so either use a vacuum cleaner or compressed air gently to remove any dust particles, then hold the test button for 15 seconds this will drain any residual charge from the unit, next replace the battery, if all fails, it is likely the smoke detector is at the end of it’s life and will need replacing. Remember smoke detectors save lives.
