NIE renewal??

In 2000 I was issued with a NIE number. After 6 yrs we returned to the UK.
We are now contemplating returning to Spain.
Will my NIE number be valid or would I need to re apply for a new one?

Ours were issued in 2006 in Tenerife and are still valid.

It will be the same number. Have you kept the original document? If you lost the original NIE-document you might need to redo them, as there are situations in Spain, when originals are needed. But if u kept them, it is all fine. Best regards, Babelina Legal Translations

Interesting note.
Am I wrong in thinking then that you have to renew the NIE on a 3 year or so basis?

There was a period when NIEs were issued with an expiry date. If yours hasn't got an expiry date then it's good for life.
It's the padron that has to be renewed periodically.
