Requirements for residencia when applying after 1/1/21

At the moment it is understood that the income requirements for anyone wishing to live permanently in Spain will be as any other country outside of the EU currently being around €32,000 per annum.

I stand to be corrected but as I understand that is for a couple and you will need to show it not just for the 1st year but for each of the 5 years it will take to get permanent residency. 

You'll get an initial visa for one year, so €32,000, then two further ones for 2 years each and for those you will need to show 2x €32,000 each time.

I took this info from  a reply posted earlier today & this in my opinion, is correct :_

 ' The financial requirements for residency applications from 1 January 2021 will be €32,000 lump sum for a married couple or €2,100 per month income.  You'll also need to buy private health insurance, for the first year at least, then you could opt to join the Convenio Especial at a cost of €60 per person, per month'.

Thanks for the replies. Do you know somewhere official I can get info from? As of yet there isn't anything specific on either Spanish or UK gov websites.

Here is a link to the process from the Spanish Consulate in Los Angeles and there is no reason to think it will be substantially different for 'You've Been Brexited' UK citizens after 1.1.21. 

There is a link within it which takes you to the financial requirements and you're looking at case #3 "RESIDENCIA NO LUCRATIVA" which says €2151.36 for the first person plus €537.84 for a second.

I believe IPREM works on a 4 weekly basis rather than calendar months in which case that total of €32,270.4 actually becomes x13 and €34,959.6

With regards to income requirements for residencia, does that also mean that, when we need to renew our residencia after 5 years (3.5 years as already have residencia),  we will be subject to this criteria even though we have already got our residency?

No, Wendy, renewing ( for me) has been a simple process, currently  no need to show all those details again...... No guarantee that things might change in the future, no one knows that.
