I have just been informed that my wife and I need to pay non resident tax because we have a holiday home. Can anyone help please we purchased our property December 2021 and haven't paid anything. What have I got to do and is there anyone local to La Florida or can it be done on line

Thanks

Gareth

You need to complete a form 210. You can then pay this tax at a bank.

However, if it's your first time you could get someone to do it for you, like Spanish Tax Forms online which charge about 35 euro or so (may have gone up). Just avoid solicitors for doing this as they are expensive. You can also get a digital signature with the tax agency and pay it online.

Loads of info on this site on how to complete the forms.

You should have completed the return by the end of December last year for the year 2022 so may incur a very small fine for late submission, by very small under 10 euro.

Hi Gareth,

This is a link to the official tax office's website, detailing how to complete the Modelo 210:

https://www.agenciatributaria.es/static_files/AEAT/Contenidos_Comunes/La_Agencia_Tributaria/Modelos_y_formularios/Declaraciones/Modelos_200_al_299/210/Instrucciones/OrdenIRNR2010instrucciones210_en_gb.pdf

and this is a link to a more easy to read guide:

https://www.iberiantax.com/blog/a-simple-guide-to-spanish-tax-form-210-modelo-210

If this looks too daunting, I also recommend Spanish Tax Forms, who we used before becoming Spanish residents:

Kind regards,

Kim

slightly incorrect there marcliff, NR tax for year 2022 needs to be paid by end of 2023 (usually Nov I think). The OP should have paid for the one month in 2021 by end of 2022, and now be on track to pay 2022 by end of this year.

Gethridge - as you haven’t pays the amount for Dec 21 yet, if you use Spanish Tax Forms (used by many on this forum, myself included) just tell them about the Dec 21 shortfall, they may have a way to include this on the return for 2022?

Hello

We are in the same situation so I emailed suma and have received bills for which they say I can pay online and also set up a direct dbit for the future. My ib bill is 34.80 euros which seems ok, but the non residential charge is 225 euros? This does not seem right as sun lawyers said it was 75 euros per person(2 of us) and were going to charge 100 euros fee.

Anyone with any idea as to what is happening? Our house value is circa 170,000 euros plot size 100m2

Thanks in advance

That price from Sun Lawyers will no doubt include their fee.

Their fee was 100 euros and the tax was 75 euros per person. The bill received from suma shows the tax at 225 euros?

As far as I am aware, Suma don't calculate the NR Tax, that is down to the resident to provide. In your case they may have just imposed a random figure as they will not be aware of your circumstances and income?

Are you sure that you have been dealing with NR tax returns here, as Suma do not set-up DD's for this tax - you may well be referring to the local tax that everybody pays every year (bit like council tax but a lot cheaper) - Suma do take these payments by a one off DD for us, usually around October time I think?

...er time I think?

Thanks for your reply.

Suma have sent me 2 separate bills by email.

The first one is for solid waste collection for 36.54 euros.

I think the next one is for the ibi at 225.29 euros. Does this sound right?

In that case they have not sent me anything for the non resident tax and I have to sort this by another means.

On looking at the ibi bill I can see cadastral values and I think I must have to work out the cadastral value from these and then try to work out the non resident tax due? Bit of a minefield and I think Spanish tax forms might be the way to go?
