Has anyone had a solar panel system installed within their community, for communal use, as well as residential use. I would like to discuss the benefits and pitfalls of such systems with anyone that has been dealing with this type of system. As we are looking to have one in our community.

All I can add is that few years ago, some Scandinavian owners wanted solar panels to heat the communal pool in winter when they usually visited .
The quote was very high and no one else, especially spanish owners was prepared to take on the extra expense saying it was unnecessary .

I think we would all agree that heating large outdoor pools is a waste of time and money. However, the proposal for a large communal system has many more benefits, from what I can see. Hence the need to find a community that has one already installed and can offer first hand knowledge of such benefits.

We have (our own) 72-ish cubic metre pool.
We have 32 square metres of solar panels and a 6kw invertor.
A pool heater (heat pump) was installed late in February. By mid-March we had the pool at 28 degrees. It is now ticking over at 33 degrees.
BUT ... we also have a sliding aluminium/perspex pool cover. Without the cover, I suspect that running heat pump would be throwing money down the drain.
