I would appreciate advice about finding a rental property agency which has apartments available for approx 4 -6 months starting on 1 Nov. I would also like  to know how utilities are calculated and if it is absolutely necessary to have a spanish bank account. I have an NIE number. Thanks in advance.

Hi Ann,

First of all Ann, are you expecting to stay in the property for the full period of 4 to 6 months?

Yes. Ideally I would stay 6 months if I found a suitable place.

If you are a UK passport holder The bad news is that you will be limited to staying for 90 days in a rolling 180 days. Here is a link to explain the 90/180 rule.

To stay in Spain legally for longer would require you to apply for a visa and applying for residency.

Thanks Steve. I am not a UK passport holder so I believe that regulation would not apply to me.

Hi Steve,

I hold an Irish passport. I was hoping to get advice about how much of a security deposit I would be expected to pay, how many months rent in advance and the average amount for utilities for one person. I have proof of pension but would prefer if I can set up direct debits from an Irish bank account if that is possible.

Thanks for your help.

Ann
