ITV

The Valencia Region is having a great problem at the moment in dealing with ITVs. It is best to book and appointment online if you can as some people are complaining they are waiting up to 3 hours if they simply turn up.

Take all your documents with you. the Tarjeta Inspeccion Tecnica de Vehiculos (the original vehicle inspection certification), the Permiso de Circulacion or log book and you are supposed to take your proof of insurance with you but I've never been asked for it.

The site to book the appointment is SITVAL. You will notice Ondara has very few appointments for February and March so seems to be a few problems. If you just turn up prepare for a long wait. Hopefully they will have sorted the problems out by the time you need yours. You can book a month in advance and still keep the original inspection date.

The long waits that Marcliff refers to tend to be when tourists start arriving from April onwards. I pass the Ondara ITV regularly and currently the queues are fairly short.

My advice would be to turn up with your documentation and ask for an appointment on the spot. That's what I did last August and I queued for 30 minutes. Possibly just lucky....

If you haven't done an ITV at Ondara before, drive in and ask the car park attendant for an appointment. Payment and arrival paperwork is done in the main office and your ITV pass or fail certificate is issued from the little hut at the end of the test line area.

SITVAL are making a complete mess of the online booking system, everyone's talking about it. Usually the system says no appointments but when you drive past there's very few cars waiting.

Or you can do what I did through gritted teeth and logged on Very early every morning for five days and finally an appointment popped up and I caught it before anyone else! I kept the site open and checked back every ten minutes or so for a couple of hours every morning.
