"Will to pay a fair price for a good car"

Then don't shop in Spain. The second hand market here is ridiculous.

Thanks for the heads up, hoping to find someone looking to sell locally, and avoid the hassle of      going from garage to garage

Spanish used car prices seem crazy to us Brits especially when new car prices are competitive.I recently imported a 2005 Beetle convertible from the UK.Paid £500 for it in the UK cheapest I could find in Spain at the time was €5000,and we all know that older Spanish cars are usually not in very good condition!Anyway my fun summer car is now registered here at an all in cost of another €1200.Its RHD but not a problem for me.

Have a look at www.autoscout24.com. Easy registering in Spain however MUST have a COC.

Make sure you know what you are doing buying privately, it may be best to use a gestor if you go this route.

LHD is obviously better in Spain, but even trying to buy LHD in UK is more expensive than LHD.COC is important I bought mine online. In the past automatic was never very popular in Spain, different now though.

Also, if you buy a Spanish registered LHD in the UK you cannot drive it on UK soil and there have been some instances of being ripped off on the forum as UK garages either don't know about the rules or choose to ignore them and you need to be able to check if there are any fines, unpaid road tax or worse, an embargo on the car. I've no idea if you can drive it in France.
