Did you consider renting a car? I have rented cars in the area for as little as 2,5 euros per day. If you have a drivers license, that seems a good alternative to using a taxi (assuming the stay is not too long).
ps tip: if you rent several times a year, it is worth getting a rental car insurance that covers all risk during a year. I pay 75 euros per year for that.

Hello Gelden
I bought an apartment in Pilar last year and as yet have only managed to come out there a handful of times, I always hire a car as I find its more or less the same price as most taxi’s especially if you can only fly into Alicante during certain months of the year. I also considered buying a car and leaving it in storage while I’m not there, again the price of cars in Spain compared to England seems quite astronomical ! Would you mind sharing who you insure with for a year’s worth of hire care cover ? €75 sounds like a really good price especially as you can pay more than that on top of the care hire price each time which can make it quite pricey every time you want to pop over for a week or two
Kind regards
Jackie

Hi,
As we live in the Netherlands, i booked through huurautoverzekering.com
But this same insurance is offered in the UK through https://www.icarhireinsurance.com/
It seems to be even cheaper in the UK. An insurance for 1 year for Europe is only 42 uk pounds.
