This topic has probably already been raised but can anyone tell what i need to apply for to become a resident.

I have been told by a few people its the TIE i need to apply for but on the uk Gov Site its says apply for Residency first.

I will be getting the Padron in the next week or two as i do know i need that along with my NIE

How much cash do i need to show in the bank do i pay into Spains health service for the first year or is it private medical insurance

we are not pensioners btw

there is so much conflicting information on the net so anything clear and a point in the direction of someone good who good assist with the process

Hi,

Applying for residency is the same as applying for a TIE card.

You will need to prove that you have enough income to satisfy the authorities you won't become a burden on the state and that you have full healthcare cover for you and any dependants.

You will need to show that you have a Spanish bank account with a monthly income of around €500 for a single person or around €900 for a couple. The authorities will expect to see the bank account with incomes for the last three months and some outgoings being paid to various companies to prove that you are actually living in Spain.

You will need to prove that you have full healthcare cover paid upfront for a full year.

An NIE will be issued as part of a residency application.

You will need to prove that you have a rental contract or deeds to a dwelling.

You will be cutting it very fine to complete your full residency application before 31st December and I suggest that you contact a gestor to help you through the process.

You will need to look at some recommended internet services for healthcare. I can't recommend anyone as I get mine through the S1.

There are healthcare sites advertising on this forum that may interest you.

Other poster will also help you with that.

For Residencia you will need PHI for the first year, paid in full in advance. If you are still under State Pension age you can apply for Convenio Especial which allows you to pay for the Spanish Healthcare System, 60€ a month for people under 65 and 157€a month for people over 65, if you search the Forum you will find more information on this. When you get your State Pension contact DWP and request your S1 Form which you then submit to the INSS to register for free healthcare and then register with a doctor, again if you search the Forum it has been widely covered.

You will need to show that you have a full years private healthcare cover paid upfront for a full year.

After a full year living here legally in Spain you can apply to join the Convenio Especial which is the Spanish healthcare system. You pay them monthly and you're covered for everything. The S1 healthcare is for retired expats who are collecting UK government Pension.

When you are registered with the Spanish Healthcare it is free except for prescriptions but you do get a discount.
