My wife and I flew in this morning (Ryanair).
At Birmingham ... Ryanair looked at our passports, our TIEs, our PCR Fit-to-Fly certificates and our QR documents. They just checked to make sure that we had them; they did not inspect them thoroughly. We had the PCRs and QRs printed out. They turned one passenger away - she did not have the necessary documentation.
At Alicante, a 3-step process ... (1) passport control used border officers, who scrutinised our passports and TIEs carefully, (2) some people in medical uniforms scrutinised our PCR certificates, our passports and our QR certificates, (3) a security officer scanned our QR certificates, and received immediate online authentication.
The PCRs and QRs had our passport numbers on them, so were cross-checked to our passports.
We used one of the numerous private labs that provide PCR tests and Fit-to-Fly certificates; ours were not authenticated online (and I assume that the facilities to do this are not currently available).
By the time we arrived home, we had each received emails from the Spanish Health Authorities, reminding us of our obligations.
