Hi

My wife and I bought a villa in April this year. We have a South facing, gently sloping garden with some large pine trees and an assortment of fruit trees/flowering shrubs/berries. The ground is surfaced with chippings, around 2-3 inches deep.

There is a irrigation system (a battery operated time-clock valve and a series of pipes). I worked out that it need a battery (!) in August, got the water working, and, thankfully, only one bush died. You can tell that I am no expert at this stuff.

So, any advice welcomed .... do I need to leave the irrigation running through the colder months, or will the plants take care of themselves ?

The system currently runs for 40 minutes each day (overnight), and the plants now look quite healthy.

Thanks

Kelvin

Hi Kelvin, I am not a gardening expert but if you are on Facebook, there is a great forum called ‘Spanish Gardening’.  There is a membership of over 3000 and everyone in the group seem to be very helpful (no matter how silly the question may be!).  Regards, Sue
