Hi,
We have just brought a property in Campoverde and there is an on demand gas water boiler, it seems to work well, but I'm just wondering what people think as to most economic solution. I have seen several posts about people changing electric hobs to gas to save money, and how expensive electricity is here.
Obviously I appreciate each household is different, there will be just two of us most of the time.

You need to check your electrical power supply capacity. Some houses in Campoverde only have a capacity of 3.45 kilowatts. A 80 litre water heater (suitable for 2 people) will have a heating element rated between 1.5 and 2.0 kw. So you need to be careful with the time-clocks. 3.45 kw may not support an electric water heater, a pool pump, and an air conditioner all at the same time (not to mention a fridge, oven etc.)
The instantaneous gas water heater solves this problem.
That said, if you have the electrical capacity, and have an off-peak/on-peak contract, I don't think an electric heater will cost any more to run than a gas one, and will be a bit less hassle.

Have lived with both and much prefer the gas option. We use about 5 bottles a year to do cooking and hot water. Ours is a 4 bed villa
