Hi Everyone

Can anyone please recommend a builder who is able to replace my back door. I'm in the UK at present and gave a local Spanish man 100 euro to fix it before I left. However he hasn't done so. My neighbors sent me a photo and I'm concerned it's going to completely disintegrate before I return in September. If I can get a personal recommendation I think I should write off the 100 euro and hire someone else to do the work for me.

I'm a 71 year old single woman. My neighbors are usually quite helpful but the phone line is unobtainable at present. Thanks.

Julia

Hello

Who is going to  repair the  door in your absence & how do you intend to pay for this work? Does your neighbour have keys to  grill, door etc?   Until you can make contact with them to ask if they will take responsibility, you cant really go ahead.

It is hot now so no rain to damage the door any further ( in reply to your 1st post) You said on that post you wanted the door replaced , not repaired so you need your neighbours to choose, order & pay for that ,until you come back to Spain

Cheers

Hi Ellis pain

Thanks very much for your reassuring reply.

I have 2 quite helpful neighbours only John has the key. I gave Sam (the local Spanish builder)100 euro to do the work and he has bought the door apparently but has been unable to fit it as it's too big. John said he would oversee the work but I'm getting 'unable to connect' message when I phone.

Thanks again for your help.

Julia

PS my first message should have said replace.

Hello Julia,

I think you need to accept that nothing is quick in Spain & the local spanish guy who was recommended thinks 'manana' will do.  I think he will get round to it eventually & probably doesn't see it as urgent now we have sunshine every day.

Wait a while & I think your neighbour John will help when he's needed....try & sort out your phone connection with him so he can reassure you., double check you have the right number & code.

Seems like Sam is well known in your area & would have too much to lose to let you down + he has bought the door haha

Cheers

Hi Ellis

Thanks again. I got a bit panicky when I looked closely at the photo. There seems to be cracks throughout the door. I've got a hospital appointment on 24/5 though. Also my passport expires on 3/9 and I need to have 3 months on my passport to enter Spain. I'll just have to cross my fingers and hope for the best.

Thanks again for your emails very reassuring.

Julia
