Hi, has anyone any experience of the new EU rule requiring those entering Spain ( or other European countries) to prove they have enough funds for their stay. Apparently there are spot checks at border control and if asked you have to prove you have access to at least 100€ a day for each day you are in the country. If you can’t prove it you will be refused entry.

So is there a change to the rule that’s  been in place for the past 15 years?

Good morning Lynn, it would be good to hear if anyone on the forum has been asked to prove this lately.
Border guards know what they are looking for and I doubt it is the average Brit of a certain age who own property here.
If you have a return ticket, no problem. If you have a copy of your deeds on your phone, you obviously have assets, credit cards with a decent limit, you have access to funds, it really isn't a problem.

Lynn the change is Brexit, 15 years ago it didn’t apply to UK residents.

This requirement is being enforced rigidly at the Gibraltar  Spanish  border  Crossing  according to local papers .
