Hi Lyn,

Are you aware of the 3 billing periods, so that you can adapt your usage accordingly?  I've attached a photo of them, extracted from this article, which also has some useful tips on how to reduce your bills:

Thank you Kim I will contact iberdrola ref thisx

I live alone now and am on the stable plan. I use the aircon for heating, gas boiler for hot water. My Jan bill was 133.35 (3 visitors for 1 week), Feb bill 80.72 and Mar bill 91.59.

Some neighbours of ours went to the Iberdrola stand in Leroy Merlin, they were put on a cheaper tariff and given a €50 Leroy Merlin voucher, they were told to go back in a couple of months and they would be given another €50 voucher. Avoid the stand by Al Campo they are as much good as a chocolate teapot by all accounts.

When we were renting we used a plug in timer on the water heater, that helped to reduce the bill.

Thank you so much for this reply. They insist we are the lowest rate but we will go to see them there. Many thanks

I have been with Iberdrola for almost 17 years and currently my bills are around the 70-80 euros per month area, this is on the day/night tariff (summer between 11p.m. and 1p.m. and winter 10p.m. and 12noon).   I use a timer during the night period for my electric water heater, do my washing in the morning and hardly ever use my air conditioning units (I use a mobile gas heater for heating).   I also usually have a shower in the morning.   I also try to use chargers for phone, etc. in the morning period, also fior using hot water for cleaning floors, etc.   Also I only boil enough water for one when making a cuppa, and only switch on lights when entering a dark room and switch off as soon as leaving it.   The only thing that I use a lot is my tv, which is on for long periods during most days (mainly for company).

Hi golandrina thank you so much for this reply. We are now certain there is something wrong with our bill at 270€ for march. We will speak to iberdrola again to see if they can change the tariff. We have been with them for 17 years also. Many thanks for your replyx

Hi Lyn,

I'm also on the "Plan Noche" tariff (cheaper rates during set hours through the night).  When Iberdrola changed their charging system last year, from 2 daily billing periods to 3, they wrote to me to say that they would continue to honour my Plan Noche tariff until the end of my contract.  I may be wrong, but this implies to me that it is no longer possible to sign a new Plan Noche contract.  However, it does seem that those of us who have Plan Noche are paying less for our electricity, so it would be worth asking Iberdrola the question.

Kind regards,

Kim
