There have been a lot of posts on booking (or not being able to book) and ITV whilst the Valencia Region have been carrying out strikes on Tuesdays and Thursdays and no available appointments in between.

There has been a meeting between the Alicante province council and SITVAL (the company now running the ITVs in the Alicante Region) and no agreement was reached. They will continue their strikes and all ITV  stations will be closed in the Alicante province from next Monday to Thursday and, of course, they will be closed on the Friday as that is Good Friday.

Wednesday 27th will see a march through Alicante in support of their claims for equal pay. Outside Alicante province, there will be a similar march in Valencia on the Monday so all ITV stations will be closed then.

During 25th to 28th, the stations in Alicante will be open to provide minimum services as laid down in their contract but will restrict inspections to emergency vehicles, ambulances and police, and then taxis buses and HGVs but will add those vehicles with expired or previously failed ITVs if they can be fitted in.

Alicante, Alcoy, Elche and Benidorm have already stated they have no appointments available now until June which have not yet been made available.

Many people have been using the Murcia ITV stations which are still privately controlled and are fully valid now the emissions test has been removed in Valencia.

ETA Sorry I clicked is your post a question by mistake which it clearly isn't

Thanks, good info. I wonder if the authorities are considering any extensions to ITV expiry/renewal dates? Could be a lot of cars passing their renewal dates if the strikes continue.

They gave a grace period during the pandemic time but haven't seen anything because of the strikes.

Many in this area are taking their cars to Murcia as they are not on strike and the ITV is fully compliant now Valencia has scrapped the extra emissions test.

Yes Murcia is the best option for me also. I usually go to Pilar de la Horadada so it's a short hop onto San Javier. Not so easy for some though. Still not due till mid-May so strike may be settled by then. I'm going to go at the earliest date possible rather than last minute.

Rgds,
