One thing I forgot to mention is that my sister-in-law's machine cost €1,100 from Leroy Merlin, but the Zodiac was less than half that price.

I also think I should have made MY position clearer - it's hubby who wants to buy the Zodiac.  Personally, I don't think we need to buy one at all - he does a perfectly acceptable job as far as I'm concerned! 😉😄...

...

Best wishes,

Kim

Yeah I know what you mean, it’s the moaning twice a week that I don’t like. I thought they would be glad of the excercise!! Thanks for your reply.

I'm with your husband on this

Our pool has a perspex/aluminium sliding "greenhouse" cover. So it stays relatively clean in winter.

Once it warms up, we will slide the covers back .... yippee !

BUT we have pine trees - hence the pool cleaner

I have observed that the pine needles float on the surface of the pool for a few hours, and can be easily scooped out with a net.

But if they sink to the bottom, they are a pain to remove.

The problem is that if the breeze gets up over night, the needles get in the pool overnight - and they sink before I get to them.

So I am thinking about this gadget

I have a Zodiak and it does a great job. It thoroughly cleans the bottom and and also climbs the walls. Ive never had any problems with it but you do need to make sure that you buy the no return valve that's and extra, about 30E if you want it work at its best. Available from AMazon

Thanks for your feedback. Could you just explain why I need a no return valve. Sorry for being thick, but I don’t understand such things!!!

i have had many pools in 3 countries and found the Zodiak vacuum types  the best...the big electric sled jobbies are cumbersome and a pain to operate..you need good vacuum so a fairly new pool pump to climb the walls...my old one didnt cut it so after the floods and replacement it now climbs...you have to mess around with the weights and tubes to find best coverage but that is half the fun...

not sure which model...it was about 350 euros..they are mostly the same but come with different accessories...i got several adapters and tubes and a vacuum measuring sensor tube...in South Africa almost everyone had that type...i see someone said they dont clean the bottom very well but i find quite the opposite...i have a separate switched vacuum connection but you can plug in the leaf trap which is normally shared with two traps so you only get half the suction...
