Hi All,

I had my 1st vaccination after being called and invited in. As im 52 i was in the next category of over 50's being done here in UK. Had the Oxford Asta

Quite straight forward and organised. Had it at 3.30pm.

Felt quite ok for the rest of the day, no ill feeling.

3am things slightly changed when i suddenly had the shivers and body ache.
Dosed up on the paracemtol and went back to bed all wrapped up.
The next day was a slower day as was tired from the lack of sleep the previous night.

Kept up the paracentol for the rest of the day as still felt a bit off. After an early night i woke up today alot better. I kind of was expecting these symptoms as a few other ppl had similar feelings. Whereas some had none.

Im glad i had it done, peace of mind and hopefully will help in getting a holiday this year, fingers crossed.

If your thinking of getting it done, go for it. Stock up on paracetomol and have some warmer bed clothes close by because you dont want to be looking for these at 3am all shivery.

Keep well.

Hi I too had it done a few weeks ago.

No after effects at all just took Paracetamol for a few hours afterwards as instructed, no shivers nothing. I am 59  and my two colleagues at school 42 + 55 both nothing . None of us have underlying health conditions.

There is a good article on the BBC website this week about side effects of the Astra Zeneca vaccine, see link below.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-56375307

Both myself and my wife had our first AZ vaccination in early February. The following day I felt a little out of sorts, my wife was worse, she had flu like symptoms and had to go back to bed for a few hours. We both took paracetamol as recommended in the leaflet we were given at the vaccine centre. After 24 hour hours we were both back to normal with no further side effects.

What we experienced seems to be a fairly common reaction to the AZ vaccine.

Neither of us have any concerns whatsoever about having out second dose, which is booked for April 24th.

Rgds,

Aitch.

Ozzysteeve. I would like to piggy back on your reply highlighting the effects of the vaccine. I too received the Astra/Zeneca vaccine a few weeks ago. The symptom I and my wife experienced was a painful arm where the vaccine was administered. My wife's pain was much greater than mine. She found it difficult to sleep as every time she turned onto the painful arm she woke up. These symptoms are known ones because the nurse administering in the vaccine in our cases asked if we were right or left handed so that she could administer the dose in the opposite arm so we could still function. Hope this helps others in some way receiving the vaccine.

Thanks Aitch, going to give the link a read. It seems from the responses it's a different reaction with everybody recieving there jabs.

Hi, I almost forgot about the sore arm until I rolled onto it last night in bed, ouch still there :(

Thou I'm confident the symptoms the 2nd time around won't be so bad but the sore arm might return as that needle still has to go in.

Looking forward to it (NOT)

😀

As with any vaccine (eg flu) some will experience side effects , others none.  Side effects are said to be a positive sign that the body is producing the desired antibodies as a reaction.

Although I had no reaction at all to either of mine 🤷‍♀️
