Moving to Spain but renting only

We are a retired couple looking to spend more time in La Marina area Spain (Renting only) for approximately 9 months of the year living on both our pensions, l do understand we will have to apply for a residencies but unsure how to proceed and what cost would be involved , any feedback would be most helpful, thanking you in advance. Assuming at least one of you is in receipt of the UK state retirement pension, then you could transfer from the NHS system to Spanish health system. Otherwise you will have to buy expensive private health insurance.

You might also find out that, especially after the Brexit transition period, your finances aren't enough to qualify for residencia.

The other thing to consider is that you would be fiscally resident in Spain and have to pay tax here, which might be higher than it is in the UK.

Hi Colette, thanks for reply but unfortunately l believe that the amount you have to pay into your bank will be increasing to a higher amount in January and will not be able to apply for residencia,  great shame. Many thanks.
