Hi, we are also 90 day visitors, the apartment we rent requires us to need use of a car plus the fact we like to get out and about anyway.

We use our own car, driving down to Portsmouth or Plymouth from NE Scotland, ferry across to Spain then drive down to the Costa Blanca, depending on ferry sailing times we usually have at least one overnight in a hotel at Preston but if its an early ferry we would overnight at Preston and again in Portsmouth.

Once in Spain we normally overnight in Burgas.

I really did consider buying a Spanish car due to the ferry and hotel costs decided to stick with the ferry, never really considered any other options like renting a car in Spain as the costs are even higher.

We bought a new small car a couple of years ago and keep it in Spain. Not as expensive as it sounds as you can often get good deals on new vehicles. Given that car hire prices have escalated recently, it’s proven to have been a good decision, and of course convenient

Hi, The apartment we go to is close to La Fuente centre so your Salinas is just 10 - 15 km away.

The roads in Spain are very good plus never seem to be that busy, i could almost say the drive to Santander is enjoyable, we have driven quite a few times now and the only roads we experience problems are in England due to road works, accidents and congestion.

How true is the last sentence in your post.

We drive to the UK through Spain and France 3-4 times each year. The roads in Spain and France are a dream and the only traffic problems we encounter are soon as we get off the Eurotunnel at Folkestone, usually within the first mile or so.

Yes, we do travel out more than three times on average, but we use Coys for parking at Alicante. It’s  an extra annual charge, but they do check your car starts etc and wash it and pick you up at the airport. Their compound is very close to the terminal and conveniently placed if you are travelling south
