Hola all

Have sold my car today and have to inform the DGT within the next 10 days of the sale, my question is can I do this online and if so,  does anyone have a link please?

I do not speak Spanish.

TIA

Steve

Hi Steve,

Use the link in the ribbon at the top of the page to "Jim's guides" and there's a guide to buying and selling cars in that list.

Kind regards,

Kim

I assume you did all the proper paperwork when you did the sale. As Kim says, look at my guides.

For example, in my selling guide, I say:

Make sure you get a copy of the compraventa you both sign; a copy of the buyer's DNI/NIE - or CIF if you sell to a dealer; and a copy of the Modelo 02 transfer form that you both complete.

Volunteer to go to DGT with the buyer in order to do the transfer. That way any minor glitches can be resolved on the spot and, more importantly, you have immediate proof that the transfer has been done.

If you can't go to DGT with the buyer, then make it clear to him that he has 15 days to do the transfer. Ask him to provide you with a copy of the temporary permiso in his name within those 15 days. Warn him that if he does not do so, then you will go to DGT and report this, and that DGT will then make the car subject of a temporary baja, meaning that it would be illegal for the buyer to continue driving the car.

If you do have to go to DGT, you use the Modelo 02 application form, but in this case you need to tick the  NOTIFICACIÓN DE VENTA box. In this case, yours is the only signature required. Along with this, take the sale documents and proof of your ID. You will need to pay a fee of €8.50, but DGT will record the change of ownership.
