Hola, I'm new to this forum so please bear with me.

We are looking for someone starting about 3ed week in September to service our pool whilst we are in the UK.  Our casa is in Calle Austria which is past the castle, turning into Torrestrella.

Many thanks

Carole

Hello Carole hope you are well and welcome to the forum.

This is an awkward question. Almost every unemployed Tom, Dick and Harry recon they are experienced pool engineers. You could try one of the bigger companies, but who do they employ?

You could consider putting in a lot of chemical and then using a pool cover.

Good luck.

Hi,

Thank you so much for replying and I take on board what you are saying and totally agree.

Either my husband or I are at the house, normally every 4-6 weeks and are there for one month at a time, for the hotter months how much chlorine does one put in the pool to last 4-6 weeks? or would we have to convert to a salt system, buy a cover and install an auto fill (float valve system)?

Covers - does one purchase one for the winter and one for the summer?

Many thanks

Hi

Thanks for the recommendation, I will definitely give them a call, I clapped eyes briefly on a company called Crystal? have you heard of them? I guess I need to do a bit more browsing on the internet.

Many thanks

Hi Cat Lady how are you doing?

4-6 weeks is nothing, fill it to the brim, throw in 4 cups of shock chemical and mix it in and you will be fine. Don’t waste your readies on pool professional engineers/pet sitters.

Have a good day and all the best.

Hi Nakabandi

I'm good thanks

Wow, this is reassuring, this forum is great! wish I'd know about it years ago.

Can  I just ask you again, do we need a cover as we've never had one!

Enjoy and thanks again

Hi Cat Lady good to hear from you.

4-6 weeks I would not bother with a cover. Also forget the auto fill, always turn your water off at the mains nearest the street when away.

This is the best forum in Spain for intelligent information.

In hot weather you very soon get water loss and over a period can cause damage. A cover will also stop all the dust and everything else in the air all getting in. We have a solar cover which also keeps it warm enough to use.

I would be a bit worried about throwing masses of everything in just from the point of view of what it might do to your skin when you next use it!

Hola,

Thanks for your comments.

When I leave San Miguel mid September no one will be swimming in the pool until next year but had the shock system been put in 4-6 weeks prior I would have done a chemical test before getting in.

We have decided to investigate covers so will purchase something, I guess it's all down to which one works best?

Thanks again
