We are hoping to buy an apartment in the Gran Playa area soon and I'd like a fibre broadband link (having brought all my IT kit with me from another Spanish property). I can see plenty of cables slung between the apartment blocks in the area but do these include fibre? Any advice from existing users appreciated.

Hi,

We bought an apartment in Av. de Murcia in Gran Playa last year and we haven't been able to find a fibre solution yet so we have the antenna solution from Telecable so far. All companies says "we are not in your area yet" 😕

But I think it comes everywhere, it is just a matter of time.

If you find a fibre solution in Gran Playa, please let me know.

Best regards

Thank you Kirsten. Very helpful. I'll pop into Telecable and check what solution they can offer.

Hi Dansnanna. You've probably found a solution by now. There is quite a bit of info on broadband access on this forum in another part of the IT section. As far as I know, if you are just on a one-off visit I think you'll be best to buy extra data on your mobile and use that as a wi-fi hub. Or there are data dongles available from mobile providers. If you make repeated visits to the one property, Telecable do offer an on-off internet service but there is a hefty set-up fee for the antenna and cabling.

Thanks for the update. Actually we recently had a fibre offer from Telecable, who we already use via antenna. Their fibre has now reached the pole outside our apartment. At the moment the cost offered (31 euros/month) doesn't seem sufficiently attractive.

For avatel im paying 50 € to instal, 39€ to have the on/off service, then its 24.99€ a month when we're there, and 4.99 wnen we are not, we just email them to say when we are there and when we leave, its 600 mb, appreciate we are holiday hime owners not full time residents
