Hello, I am new to the Santa Pola Forum, My self, my daughter and my 11month old grand daughter are hoping to visit Santa Pola in or around October. It is our first visit and I would like to find a place for us to stay that would be central, near to beach so we could find our feet. I am thinking long-term of renting and then buying a house for the family holidays and the winter months but first I need to get familiar with the place. I would like to get to know a friendly environment where we would feel safe coming and going maybe on my own for the next while while checking out rentals and properties. We are not looking for anything special just maybe a private host that would rent us a double room with a bathroom and balcony if possibe and near the port or beach if possible. I could be travelling there also on my own from time to time and I would like the comfort of feeling safe. Thank you for reading this post any advise would be greatly appreciated Colette

You’ll be happy to know that Santa Pola is a very low crime area….it’s quite safe to walk around even at midnight. ( Do use your usual common sense of course, don’t get complacent !)
Your best areas for the first time visit would be either Gran Playa beach near to the marina area , Port & marina area - still close to beach & town centre, “Centro” near the castle but still only a short walk (5 mins ) to Playa Levante beach, Playa levante beach itself or slightly into Bernabeu beach. Any of these will be safe as well as offering plenty bars & eateries, supermarkets & general shops. It’s a fairly flat town, the hills are up the back. I’ve sent you a pm ;)
Thank you so much Cfell 63 for your reply and I have pm you. Colette

Hi Colette,
I loved reading your message on the forum, because it is almost word for word what we felt several years ago when we quite by accident, discovered Santa Pola. We fell in love with the town immediately and we very soon explored the various parts and districts, renting in several of them in turn, before we settled on where we wanted to look for a bolt hole.
We would recommend you to visit a property agent half way up the hill between The Masymas supermarket and the bus station. It is called Comfortcasa, they speak good English, and are honest to deal with. They introduced us to the flat that we ended up buying, and it is exactly what we were looking for in every respect. No car needed, good bus connections with the airport, Alicante city and the rest of Spain, great beaches, several supermarkets, every kind of shop that one requires, and countless restaurants serving all tastes and price brackets.
it is a pleasure and a privilege to now be Santa Poleros, can’t wait until our next visit in September.
Please feel free to get back to us with any further questions you may want answered.
warm regards
Ray & Frances
Thank you so much Ray and Frances for your reply and advice which we will happily look into. I was introduced to Santa Pola and on researching it I feel it is a place I would like very much. I look forward to visiting in October. Thanks again Colette

Hello Cfell63, myself and my husband were talking to you on this forum some time ago when we booked our trip to Santa Pola. We are in Santa Pola 14 till 23rd and we got some good advice from you regarding safety etc
We asked if you were free to have a coffee if you can remember, anwway we are staying in the centre of Santa Pola if you are free any day for a quick coffee. The only trouble is we are not too sharp with IT and I have been trying to sign in the forum on my mobile but am still trying this eve. Hopefully Ill be able to sign in before get there.
