Hi there Kimmie. Our daughter is asking about her application for the NLV. She asks when she arrives in Spain having obtained the NLV and goes to the police station to get her NIE what address will they require. Could it be our address?

Hi Sandra,

Yes, it can be your address, but you'll need to register her on the Padrón at your Town Hall, so that she has the registration certificate to take to her TIE appointment.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi,

Yes your daughter can give your address on her NIE application. She does not necessarily need to live in Spain to gain an NIE number I got mine 8 years prior to moving to Spain. It can be applied for at the Spanish consulate in the UK.

Hi Steve,

Good spot.  I have to say that I assumed this was a case of someone confusing the NIE and the TIE, but I would expect that Sandra's daughter had her NIE issued at the same time as her NLV, and that Sandra was actually referring to the TIE application.  It doesn't help that some Spanish (and some Brits!) incorrectly refer to the TIE as the NIE 🤦‍♀️😄

Kind regards,

Kim
