Is there any information regarding the fiestas of the moors and christians. I've been looking online to see if it is cancelled this year or not ? To no avail 🙈.

Thank you

Why does Spain have these celebrations?

Without going into the history & Spanish traditions, have a look at:

Because Spain is proud of it's culture and traditions and has celebrated them for hundreds of years.

And, of course, everyone enjoys a good party, for whatever reason 😀

With the Moros y Cristianos, although it is adversarial, both sides get a chance of winning, and Spaniards play both parts. Even St George, who England shares with Spain, gets a look in and eventually helps the Cristianos to defeat the Moros.

However, he does leave his dragon at home 😉

I was thinking more about cultural appropriation.

It wasn't appropriated, it's a culture developed throughout the centuries.

Here's a local one from Rojales in 2019

I'm still not sure 🙈. They are advertising it on santa pola tourism?   I suppose I will just see next week.   Surely this can't be right?
