Can anyone tell me if Santa Pola would be a good place to buy a holiday/retirement home? I have seen very few posts from this area. I like the fact that it is nearer to the airport than e.g. Torrevieja, Playa Flamenca etc.

Santa Pola is very quiet Spanish town. Here become busy only end of July till 26 of August ( 5 weeks only). If you like fresh air, long walks on the beach this place is for you. Here is no karaoke, quizz nights, ect. Very safe place to live. Not a lot of people speak English.

We have a place there , Rita sums it up well , full English , roast dinners , union jack shorts ?? This place is NOT for you !! Been out all times of year and it's lovely , working town , the main centre is always something going on and bars open all year , although bars along the beach close in the winter .

I agree.   Not for those who want english food and English bars but wonderful seafront promenade.   All the above very accessible in nearby towns.     Bus into Alicante is good and from there Renfe trains if you want to explore other places.
