Yes 8 hours with dog willn easily cover it. I go M1 A34 using sat nav

Hi Steve & Christine, 

just spotted your question, but I see you have already had most of your questions answered, and I agree that the Chunnel is the preferable way across the water.

One important thing that I didn't  see mentioned was the dog passports required for your pets to ge back into the UK.

Quite a prolonged and expensive business,apparently to prevent rabies getting in.

Read it up online.

I find the bit thro France is the longest and seems never ending.

Thanks for the information, we are still flying over at the moment, but at some point in the future we are definately going to have a driving adventure down to santa pola so all info is greatly received.
