We went to Elche last week to change the owner on a car we have purchased privately. We had an appointment. We had all the required paperwork including the Modelo 620. The (very nice) person at the DVG who saw us said the yes all the paperwork apart from the Modelo 620 was correct, he told us we needed to download a different Modelo 620 because the car was first registered in 2006. He said we had to use DGT Valencia website not Alicante which we've done, do you think we can find this goddamn form, just wondering is anyone has any ideas. We've lived here nearly 20 years always done this kind of stuff ourselves never a problem before.

Thanks in advance

Gina

Gina, I'm curious. The transfer tax has to be paid before you go to DGT. Did you go to Agencia Tributaria and do this, or did you pay online? Either way, you should have proof of payment that DGT should accept.

Hi Jim,

Yes we paid the tax, got a receipt, had all paperwork in order. The hiccup seems to be the age of the car, 2006 reg (35,000 ks). We've printed off all relevant modelo 620's available from the links Ray kindly sent, there was 1 different to what we had. I'm going to fill them all out IN duplicate.

We have another appointment on Thursday so we'll turn up armed with a raft of paperwork and see what happens.

I'm feeling a bit stupid because we've done this a couple of times before with no problems. We speak Spanish pretty well and have never had to use a 3rd party to do the normal legalities.

Any further info you may have would be really appreciated, I know you are a fountain of very valuable knowledge.

I'll update on how we get on after the appointment.

Many thanks for your reply.

Gina

I'm sorry Gina, but I'm completely stumped. There's nothing I can find relevant to your situation on AEAT's or DGT's websites.

In any case, I don't see what the 620 has to do with DGT. It's AEAT who work out how much you should pay, and if they've given you proof of payment of that, it's surely not up to DGT to query it.

All I can do is wish you good luck on Thursday.

Hi Jim,

As you're stumped I don't feel quite so stupid.

Thanks for taking the time to look into this.

I'll let you know what occurs.

Hi Jim,

All sorted, apparently we should have gone to Alicante and not Elche to do the change due to age of car.

Elche were very helpful when we arrived for our appointment, they managed to get us seen at Alicante the same day.

I'm not going to even try to understand I've learnt to go with the flow after nearly 20 years here for the sake of my poor little mind.

Again many thanks for your help.

Gina

Thanks Gina, and pleased you got it sorted. I still don't understand it though, as DGT's website says you can do it at any traffic office.
