We, as a UK couple in their 70's who are looking for a quiet residential area, close enough to be able to access all the facilities, hopefully near a bus route.

We are hoping to buy a modern townhouse which doesn't need to have a pool.

Any information would be appreciated as we don't know the area but after research seems to be a good area for us as we are past going to nightclubs but are still like to socialize.

We are also still open to any suggestions if anyone could tell us of any other area that is within an hour of Alicante airport.

Do you drive?  Will you have a car?  This is crucial to your search as public transport in the area you refer to leaves a lot to be desired.  You would probably do better in the town of Pilar de la Horadada on the inland side of the main N332 road in order to easily access amenities.  Hope all goes well when you come over to look around.

Hi there, I would suggest Gran Alacant, good shopping centre, local buses and buses to Elche and Alicante.

You can live here without a car. Good mixture of Spanish, Scandi and Brit residents.

Santa Pola is more Spanish, and has good beaches and is a fishing port.

We are also closer to the airport than towns further down the coast.

If you want any more information I would be happy to help you.

Cheers, J

Thanks for the information.  Isn't Pilar de la Horadada near the motorway so therefore there would air pollution which would be a problem as my partner has breathing problems.

Can you suggest anywhere else.

Pinar de Campoverde is a lovely area that is serviced by the local Costa Azul bus. There are plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants and two supermarkets on the urbanisation. There is a local ‘vecinos’ (neighbours association) that arrange trips and social events. The local church is very welcoming and have Sunday services as well as midweek prayer/bible study. There are fitness groups / tennis / chess / cards and many of the communities have communal pools. It’s a 15 minute drive to the beach but the air is wonderful as you are located within the pine trees, lemon, orange and olive groves.

Good luck in your property search.
