Hi Charlie,

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your purchase!

Buildings and contents insurance in Spain comes in one policy, called Home insurance.  When costing the value of your contents, you need to include the value of your kitchen as, unlike the UK, this is included under contents, rather than buildings.

There are a lot of insurance companies and cover can be bought via an agent, but it's worth noting that these agents are not what we know as brokers in the UK, who search the whole of the market for you - agents sell you insurance from the company for whom they act.  To get comparable quotes, you need to phone individual insurance companies yourself.  We're with Liberty Seguros and very happy with their service - when we had a water leak earlier this year, I just made one call to their claims line and it was all sorted.  I've previously asked Linea Directa and Mapfre for comparable quotes, but they were both more expensive.

Kind regards,

Kim
