Please can anyone advise me what uk mobiles are best to take to spain. I'm currently with 3 and they are advising that they will cut me off after 2 months abroad.

If you have a UK mobile (we use O2 pay & Go for our sim) and can top it up online there should be no reason why you can't use it for more than 2 months abroad.
If you are on a contract, as long as the bills are paid by direct debit I can't see what would be the problem there either. Unless I'm missing something :)

3 have written it into their terms and conditions. Thanks for the advice, payg seems the way to go.

Three will cut you off after 2 months if you are using their Feel at Home. To use Feel at Home you need to buy a bundle, either data or calls and texts. If you don't buy a bundle you simply roam and pay from whatever credit you have put on your phone.
If you don't use Feel at Home (i.e. have made a normal top up and not bought a bundle) your phone will work in Spain indefinitely as long as it has credit. I have a holiday property on the Costa Blanca and have used Three for a long time with no problems and many visits exceeding two months.

I am on contract with 3 and have been in Alicante for a year been back to uk 2 times in that year
No problems still woeking fine
Daughter has pay as go on 3 tjat also has been working for a year
