That’s totally unacceptable. The photo copy of the passport will show details of its validity dates and not require a notary’s stamp for approval. I think you should phone your branch manager and ask why you have been advised wrongly. I don’t know about you circumstances, but I’m totally ...

...fed up with the attitude of La Caixa bank’s staff at my newbranch in Santa Pola……most unhelpful since they have closed my local branch in Gran Alacant.

Hi

I totally agree with you, and  I will write to our branch.

Our branch is in Campoamor, however our apartment is in Torrevieja.  Seven months ago with the consent of our branch we went to the branch in Torrevieja and asked them to transfer our account.  Like you we live in the UK and imagine our surprise when we went to the branch in Torrevieja two weeks ago only to find that our account has not been transferred yet.  When we asked why that was we were told it takes time.  I can’t believe that seven months is not long enough to transfer an account.

Regards

Sylvia

Seven months is a ridiculous amount of time just to transfer from one branch to another. We had our account opened in Torrevieja when purchasing our property, but had it transferred to Gran Alacant when they opened a branch there and it was a matter of days before it was completed. The problem seems to be the same throughout the whole Spanish banking system when it comes to providing a service to non-residents……everyone seems to have problems no matter which bank they use!! It’s all done electronically these days so there shouldn’t be a problem one would have thought…….but then again the Spanish do like their paperwork trails and keeping surly staff in a job!!! 😡😡
